January 2015 - June 2015 Hot Lunch Update

Hello Parents & Guardians!

All remaining Hot Lunch menus (January 2015-June 2015) will be available to order and pay for on the Hot Lunches Online system starting December 1st 2014!

Please visit https://eastelementary.hotlunches.net to order.  If you do not have an account yet, please see the "Hot Lunch" tab on this blog to find the instructions to sign up.

Some important points to remember:

  • Orders should be paid at the same time they are placed, so as to avoid the unfortunate situation of having an order that is unpaid by the deadline and subsequently canceled.  Orders can be paid by PayPal, either by an existing account or as "a guest", where you pay using your credit card without an actual PayPal account.  If you pay using an "e-check", orders MUST be submitted and paid for 10 days prior to the deadline as the e-checks take 6-8 business days to clear.  Any e-check orders that are pending at the deadline will unfortunately have to be canceled, due to the fact that they are not guaranteed to clear.   All orders are non-refundable.

  • If your child is in ECS, please verify the Fridays that they are in school before placing your order.  This will eliminate the possibility of an order arriving for your child on a day they do not have school.

Deadlines for ordering hot lunch will be as follows:
  • January orders - deadline is Dec 26th 2014
  • February orders - deadline is Jan 30th 2015
  • March orders - deadline is Feb 27th 2015
  • April orders - deadline is March 27th 2015
  • May orders - deadline is April 24th 2015
  • June orders - deadline is May 28th 2015
**Please note, the deadline time for each of these dates will now be 9 pm. For example, all orders for January must be placed and paid for in full by Dec 26th 2014 at 9 p.m.  Due to time constraints, no extensions will be offered.

  • If you can volunteer to hand out hot lunch, be sure to sign up on your order page and record it in your calendar.  Any questions regarding volunteering to hand out hot lunch cam be directed to Janice @ 780-909-5643.

Hello Parents!

This is the last weekend before we send the kids back to school and I hope you've been able to get out and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful weather with them. If you're anything like me, there are a variety of emotions that Tuesday will bring... excitement, sadness, nervousness...but the kids are excited and ready to get to see all of their friends again! There have been a few changes at the school over the summer - a new parking lot, the tile mural project that was sponsored in part by EEPA (still to be revealed!), a new bench for the ECS/gr.1 playground, a new basketball hoop (both to be installed in September) and we have some new staff! EEPA is excited to welcome our new principal Mr. Chomlak to our team!

There is always a lot going on in our busy lives from day to day...work, volunteering, sports and other extracurricular activities...and sometimes it is hard to remember that it can be the little things that let the kids know that we are involved in their school and interested in what they do, as well show appreciation for the teachers and staff that nurture, guide and care for our children everyday. I have posted a list below that has been adapted from the Alberta School Council Association website for some ideas on things you can do to stay involved!

Good luck with the first day back to school!
Erin Reich
